August 3, 2004 Hoala Greevy and Gordon Bruce A Tech-preneur Success Story Hoala Greevy and Gordon Bruce tell how they got from concept to global software players in the anti-spam marketplace. Hoala Greevy and Gordon Bruce are two tech-preneurs who have teamed up to take on SPAM. Their product PauSpam has gained traction not only in Hawaii but in markets in Asia and the mainland US. Theirs is a story of perseverance and persistence as they built their software company from scratch to black ink in a few short years.
Hoala Greevy is a Hawaii - brain gainer - who returned to Hawaii in 2001 to advocate for Open Source software to give Hawaii companies a competitive advantage. By practicing what he preached, Hoala focused on developing Linux based software solutions for email filtering, network intrusion detection systems and other wise intelligent use of the Linux Operating System. In the fall of 2002 he created PauSpam, a Hawaii company that now filters upwards of 500,000 email messages per day. Hoala is a proud graduate of Mckinley High School. He received 2 Bachelors' degrees from Portland State University in 1999 and moved down to the Bay Area from Oregon shortly afterward to work for an email firm (Critical Path) in San Francisco. At Critical Path, Mr. Greevy experienced the Dot Com boom firsthand.
